Piedmont: Ray Perman recalled as tireless volunteer

Published Monday March 13

His aviation background also served him well as a consultant for Peat Marwick (now KPMG).

PIEDMONT — When schools, Boy Scouts and other entities, organizations or causes needed help in or around Piedmont, it came to the surprise of few to find Raymond Perman lending a hand.

Not one to call attention to himself, Perman helped the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir, the Piedmont Center for the Arts, Beach Elementary School and the Piedmont Council of the Boy Scouts of USA among a host of others.

Respected and appreciated by his fellow Piedmont residents, Perman — recipient of the Piedmont Unified School District’s annual Arthur Hecht Volunteer of the Year Award in 2014 — died Feb. four with family members by his side.

Article length: About 740 words.
